Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 100th Anniversary
(This history includes information from an article “History of Concord
Church, School and Cemetery” written by Bernice (Ray) Adams in June
1985)
Antioch Missionary Baptist Church traces her roots back to 1840 to the
families who lived in the community of “Lost Corner.” Lost Corner is
thought to be the original name for what became known as the Concord
Community because of its lack of a church or school. J. F. “Frank” Ray
was a sawmill operator and in 1903 he gave the materials for the
original one-room school and Union church, built on the west side of
the Concord Cemetery. Bro. O. H. Latham was the pastor, and deacons
were J. T. Morgan and Jim Smith. Bro. Tom Watson, a Baptist preacher
and sawmill operator, brought his men to help build the structure,
which was named Antioch Baptist Church of Christ in 1907, because it
provided services for the Baptist members and Church of Christ members,
with everyone worshiping together. . . .

Birth of a Church
by Pastor Glen Moore The
promise I made to my dying father was that I would not go on the
mission field until I had accomplished two things. First, I would
continue my care of him and second, I would move my mother to Cuero,
Texas, her hometown, where she would be living with my grandmother. . . .
